This is a full-time, hands-on operational role based in Canterbury, reporting directly to our Christchurch Account Manager. As Area Manager, you'll be the critical link between leadership and our site-based cleaning teams — making sure service standards are met, staff are supported, and clients stay happy.
You'll be out on the ground, supervising sites during cleaning timeframes, training staff, troubleshooting issues, and personally overseeing specialist cleaning work. If you know commercial cleaning inside-out and you're ready to step into a leadership role, this is your opportunity.

What You’ll Be Doing
Your day-to-day cleaning duties will include (but aren’t limited to):
Carry out roving supervision across multiple sites during cleaning hours
Train, induct, and develop site-based cleaning staff
Oversee periodic & specialist works including deep cleans, floor programmes, and term cleans
Ensure every site operates to specification and in line with the clients Customer Service Plan
Address performance issues and support the Account Manager with formal processes when required
Manage stores, materials deliveries, and equipment maintenance on site
Assist with timesheets, payroll, and stores orders
Ensure full HS&E compliance across all sites — and be a genuine role model for safe work practices
Carry out QA inspections and report on performance
Set up new sites and manage the close-down of finished contracts











What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Solid practical experience in commercial cleaning
Previous experience supervising teams in a cleaning or facilities environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills — you'll work with a diverse team and client contacts
Good understanding of NZ workplace health and safety requirements
Basic Microsoft Office skills and ability to pick up operational systems quickly
A problem-solving mindset and the ability to work independently under pressure
Full Class 1 NZ driver licence and legal right to work in NZ
Willingness to work across Canterbury sites during business and after-hours cleaning timeframes
